Fitzgibbon sits between Carseldine, Bracken Ridge and Zillmere, around fifteen minutes from our Brendale base. We look after lawns and gardens for homeowners in the suburb's established streets, and common areas for body corporates in its newer townhouse developments.
The suburb has two distinct sides. The older part has family homes on standard blocks with established gardens, while Fitzgibbon Chase has added a wide mix of newer housing on smaller lots, laid out around parks and bushland.
Homes and blocks in Fitzgibbon
Fitzgibbon was named in 1971, after Abraham Fitzgibbon, a Queensland Railways chief engineer and later commissioner. Before that, the area was part of Zillmere North. The established streets have family homes built in the decades since, typically on suburban blocks with lawns front and back and gardens that have had time to mature.
Fitzgibbon Chase is a master-planned community developed by Economic Development Queensland and launched in 2009. It brought detached homes on compact lots, terraces and townhouses, many of them in strata schemes. Private yards are small, but the shared areas and garden strips in the townhouse developments still need regular care.
Around Fitzgibbon
Of the Fitzgibbon Chase site's 114 hectares, about 50 were kept as bushland and open space, with wildlife links retained for species such as squirrel gliders and tusk frogs. That green space is a big part of the suburb's character, and a lot of homes sit right beside it.
Fitzgibbon is part of a larger Priority Development Area that also takes in parts of Carseldine, Bald Hills, Taigum and Deagon. For us, it sits neatly between our Carseldine and Bracken Ridge work, so it fits easily into regular runs.
Fitzgibbon is around 15 minutes from our Brendale base in normal traffic. View Fitzgibbon on Google Maps.
Common maintenance issues in Fitzgibbon
What we see most in Fitzgibbon:
Compacted soil in newer yards
Turf laid over compacted fill often stays thin and dries out quickly in summer.
Small spaces, lots of edges
Compact yards and townhouse gardens have more edging and paving for their size than a big lawn.
Open-space boundaries
Grass and weeds spread from parkland and bushland into fences, garden beds and lawns.
Older established gardens
In the older streets, hedges and shrubs often need cutting back and beds re-edging.
Townhouse common areas and young landscapes
Much of the newer housing in Fitzgibbon is in townhouse and terrace developments, where the body corporate looks after entry gardens, driveway strips, shared lawns and visitor parking. Young landscapes like these change quickly in their first years: plants fill out, gaps appear where others fail, and turf on compacted ground needs feeding and aeration before it properly establishes.
We work to a written scope agreed with the committee or strata manager, with regular mowing, edging, weeding and pruning, plus seasonal jobs like feeding shared lawns and topping up mulch. Because so much open space surrounds the estate, we also keep boundaries next to reserves trimmed and treated so weeds don't creep into the complex. See strata grounds maintenance.
For homeowners on compact lots, a short fortnightly visit through the warmer months is usually enough to keep the lawn, edges and garden strips looking sharp, dropping back to every three or four weeks over winter.

Fitzgibbon FAQs
Do you service Fitzgibbon?
Yes. Fitzgibbon is around fifteen minutes from our Brendale base, and we schedule visits here with our Carseldine and Bracken Ridge customers.
Do you look after townhouse complexes in Fitzgibbon Chase?
Yes. We maintain common areas for body corporates on a set visit day, with a written scope covering lawns, gardens, paths and boundaries.
Why is the lawn at my newer Fitzgibbon home so thin?
Newer lawns are often laid over compacted fill with little topsoil. Aeration, top dressing and regular feeding in spring and summer help the roots go deeper. See lawn restoration.
Is a very small yard worth having mowed?
Yes. Compact yards are quick to mow but need careful edging and trimming, and we blow down paths and driveways before we leave, so the whole frontage looks finished.
Can you keep weeds from the open space out of my yard?
Yes. We trim and spot-treat along fences that back onto parkland and bushland, so weeds and runners don't get established in your lawn and gardens.
