Murrumba Downs is a family suburb of planned estates between Kallangur, Griffin and the Bruce Highway. Most of our work here is regular lawn mowing and garden care for homeowners, plus hedges, lawn restoration and some strata common areas.
Many Murrumba Downs gardens were planted when the estates were built and are now fully grown. Common jobs are reshaping hedges, refreshing tired garden beds and bringing older estate lawns back to good condition.
Homes and blocks in Murrumba Downs
Most homes in Murrumba Downs were built in the 1990s and 2000s: brick family homes on estate blocks of roughly 600 to 800 square metres. Front gardens often have hedges, feature trees and garden beds from the original landscaping, and many backyards have pools.
Estate lawns here are now twenty to thirty years old. Some are still thick and healthy, while others have thinned out, become compacted or been invaded by weeds.
Around Murrumba Downs
Murrumba Downs has its own station on the Redcliffe Peninsula line, and Dohles Rocks Road links it to the Bruce Highway and to Griffin and Kallangur. The Pine River estuary and its mangroves lie to the south and east, with parkland and walking tracks along the water.
From Brendale, Murrumba Downs is around fifteen minutes up the Bruce Highway.
Two neighbouring strata complexes in Murrumba Downs, each with around 100 townhouses plus a pool and gym, had been left overgrown by their previous grounds contractor. We brought both back with an intensive recovery program, including large trees that needed a specialist, then moved them onto a fortnightly maintenance program.
Many Murrumba Downs homes sit close to the Pine River estuary and its mangroves. It's a lovely setting, but the low-lying land and still water bring mosquitoes in the warmer months. Emptying anything that holds water, and not over-watering lawns and gardens all help reduce breeding around the house.
Properties near the water and parkland also get more weeds blowing in from reserves and verges. A couple of targeted weed treatments a year, combined with thick, healthy lawns and well-mulched garden beds, keeps them from taking hold.
Murrumba Downs is also well placed for our regular northern runs, with easy access from the Bruce Highway, so regular visits can be scheduled on set days alongside Kallangur and Griffin.
Can you bring my Murrumba Downs lawn back to life?
Often, yes. Many older estate lawns recover well with lawn restoration in spring, without the cost of new turf.
Do you mow lawns in Murrumba Downs every fortnight?
Yes. Fortnightly mowing in the warmer months is our most common booking here.
Can you reshape overgrown front hedges?
Yes. We can reduce them gradually and then keep them in shape with regular trims.
How far is Murrumba Downs from Brendale?
Around fifteen minutes via the Bruce Highway.
Can you help reduce mosquitoes around my Murrumba Downs home?
We can't treat mosquitoes, but we can remove leaf litter and green waste where water collects, and keep lawns and gardens trimmed, which all reduce breeding spots around the house.
Do you look after townhouse complexes in Murrumba Downs?
Yes. We maintain common areas for body corporates, with a written scope and a set visit day. See strata grounds maintenance.
