Two Murrumba Downs townhouse complexes brought back into shape

The challenge

As with our Brendale project, the previous provider had left both complexes in poor shape: hedges badly overgrown, pathways blocked and lawns deteriorated.

These sites also had large trees, some at least 4 metres tall, that had grown well beyond what's safe to prune from the ground. And with a pool and gym on site, the common areas are used every day, so the overgrowth was hard for residents to miss.

Getting it back in shape

We started with an intensive recovery program across both complexes:

• overgrown hedges cut back to a reasonable height. See hedge trimming and pruning
• blocked walkways cleared, so residents could get around the complexes again
• lawns refurbished. See lawn restoration
• a tree lopper brought in for the trees taller than 4 metres, which need specialist equipment and skills to cut safely

Keeping it that way

With both sites back under control, they moved onto a fortnightly program. Every two weeks we cover:

• lawn mowing and edging across both complexes
• hedges and gardens kept in shape as part of the body corporates' strata grounds maintenance scope

The result

• A happy site manager

  The property's site manager has told us they're happy with the result.

• Paths open again

  With hedges cut back and walkways cleared, residents can move around both complexes, including to the pool and gym, without pushing through overgrowth.

• Big trees under control

  The tallest trees were dealt with safely by a specialist, rather than being left to keep growing over buildings and paths.

• Two sites, one standard

  Both complexes are kept to the same scope and schedule, so neither falls behind the other.
